July 2025: The NBA has partnered with the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce, NFIB Nebraska, the Greater Omaha Chamber and the Lincoln Chamber to issue a news release to warn businesses about a scam targeting Paycheck Protection Program loan recipients.
Scammers are using SBA loan data to impersonate bankers and law enforcement. In some cases, they claim to be from a bank’s fraud department or say a warrant has been issued for the customer’s arrest. The goal is to trick victims into sharing online banking credentials or sending payments.
